Lebanon receives 40 tons of medical aid from UAE

Caretaker Health Minister Firas Abiad received a shipment of 40 tons of medical supplies and medications from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport.

This shipment is part of an ongoing airlift that will deliver 240 tons of aid to support Lebanon during its current crisis.

Abiad expressed gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the timely assistance, stating, "This support shows that Lebanon is not alone, but surrounded by siblings and friends offering help in these difficult times."

He noted that the aid will replenish emergency medical supplies that have been depleted due to the large number of critically injured people following a series of cyber-attacks and intensified airstrikes.

When asked about the state of hospitals, Abiad acknowledged that some facilities in affected areas are out of service while others are operating at minimal capacity. The Health Ministry has initiated evacuations to hospitals in safer regions to mitigate the impact.

Despite these challenges, the minister expressed confidence in Lebanon's healthcare system, affirming that it "will endure and continue to fulfill its duties, providing medical and health services to the people."
