Speaker Berri to Sky News Arabia: Lebanese Army will ensure implementation of UN Resolution 1701

Speaking to Sky News Arabia, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri affirmed that the Lebanese Army will be responsible for the practical implementation of U.N. Resolution 1701 to maintain stability in the region.

He also mentioned that the current discussions revolve around a final ceasefire agreement.

Berri emphasized Lebanon's commitment to the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as a guarantor of the resolution's execution.

He announced that efforts to elect a consensus president for Lebanon will begin once a ceasefire is achieved, highlighting the importance of political stability following the end of hostilities.

Furthermore, Berri revealed that an agreement had been reached with the U.S. envoy, Amos Hochstein, to implement Resolution 1701 without any amendments, ensuring a clear path forward for peace and security in South Lebanon.
