Lebanese Foreign Ministry files complaint with UNSC over recent Israeli attacks on media personnel

The Foreign Ministry has filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding recent Israeli assaults targeting journalists and media facilities in Hasbaya, southern Lebanon, and the Ouzai area.

This complaint was submitted following consultations with the Ministry of Information and through Lebanon’s permanent mission to the U.N. in New York.

In its statement, the Ministry emphasized that the repeated targeting of the media by Israel constitutes a serious war crime.

Lebanon called for accountability and punishment for Israel, arguing that such actions undermine the foundations of a free press.

The statement highlighted the importance of protecting journalists and ensuring the free flow of information, describing the attacks as attempts to intimidate those covering Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

Lebanon urged member states of the Security Council to take effective measures to achieve an immediate ceasefire and to stop ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, which impact civilians, journalists, and paramedics.
