Lebanon's PM Mikati urges displaced Lebanese to await army guidance before returning home

Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Wednesday called on displaced citizens to exercise caution and wait for military instructions before returning to their homes.

His remarks came as convoys of displaced individuals were seen heading back to their villages, particularly in southern Lebanon.

“These scenes reaffirm the Lebanese people's commitment to their land, heritage, and values,” Mikati said in a statement.

The prime minister emphasized the importance of safety, urging both returnees and those who remained in their homes to await directives from the Lebanese army.

“We look forward in the coming days to the implementation of the army's plan to strengthen its presence in the south, enabling the gradual return of all displaced individuals to their homes and villages,” he added.
