Lebanese army establishes positions around Khiam in first phase of deployment following Israeli pullout: Statement

The Lebanese army, in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), has established positions at five locations around the town of Khiam in the first phase of its deployment following the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

This move, according to a statement, follows discussions by the five-member supervisory committee.

As part of the operation, military units will conduct a town survey to remove unexploded ordnance. The deployment will continue in the coming stages.

The army has urged citizens to avoid the area and adhere to military instructions until the operation is completed.
