Lebanese President receives ICRC head Simone Casabianca-Aeschlimann on farewell visit

Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun received Simone Casabianca-Aeschlimann, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Lebanon, at the Presidential Palace in Baabda on Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting marked her farewell visit as she concludes her mission in Lebanon and prepares to move to Ethiopia.

Her successor, Agnes Dhur, along with the political advisor to the mission, Shawky Amine Eddine were also present.

During the meeting, President Aoun thanked Casabianca-Aeschlimann for her efforts during her tenure, particularly in the challenging circumstances Lebanon faced.

He appreciated the sacrifices made by the ICRC staff to achieve the goals and objectives of the International Red Cross Committee.

President Aoun welcomed Mrs. Dhur, wishing her success in her new role.

Casabianca-Aeschlimann briefed the president on the work the mission carried out in recent months, particularly during the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.

She affirmed the ICRC's readiness to continue its full humanitarian mission in the country.
