REPORT: Salam says keen on reaching a governmental formula that garners support of political factions

Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam held talks on Monday with House Speaker Nabih Berri at his residence in Ain el-Tineh.          

Following the meeting, PM-Designate Salam said that since his designation he voiced his support to Lebanon’s national interest, adding that he has been exerting efforts with all political factions in order to reach a governmental formula that serves the entire country.             

MP Salam added that he is keen on coming up with a governmental formula that garners the support of all faction since Lebanon is passing through a critical stage.                     

Salam expressed his hope that deputies come up with an agreement regarding the electoral law the soonest possible in order to form a cabinet capable of supervising the implementation of this law in the upcoming parliamentary elections.               

“We will proceed with governmental consultations following the parliament’s General Authority session,” MP Salam concluded.         

This as sources confirmed to LBCI that the formation of the cabinet will neither take place today, nor tomorrow, adding that PM-Designate Salam is expected to meet on Tuesday with President Michel Sleiman.
