First polling centers in Turkey's municipal elections opened: AFP

Polling centers opened at 7:00 (4:00 GMT) on Sunday in eastern Turkey for the municipal elections held nationwide, according to journalists from Agence France-Presse in Diyarbakır, the largest Kurdish-majority city in the country.

Voting operations begin in major cities such as Ankara and Istanbul and in western Turkey an hour later, ending at 17:00 (14:00 GMT).
