Egypt emphasized the importance of supporting Lebanon and "sparing it the ravages of war" amid rising tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Cairo, which plays a mediating role in the Gaza ceasefire agreement, also warned of the "dangers of opening a new front in Lebanon."
