Israeli army reports sirens in Northern Israel amid high alert for possible Hezbollah retaliation

The Israeli army reported on Thursday that sirens rang out in northern Israel amid high alert for possible retaliatory strikes by Hezbollah following the assassination of a senior leader this week.

Israeli media reported that the Iron Dome air defense system carried out interceptions over the Western Galilee region, but it is not yet clear if the strikes represent an escalation of the near-daily exchange of fire that has been ongoing for months.
