Maher al-Assad's office chief found dead in Damascus, SOHR reports

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Major General Ali Mahmoud, director of Maher al-Assad's office, was found dead in his office on the Saboura Road in Damascus countryside.

Major General Mahmoud had previously been tasked with leading military campaigns in several Syrian provinces, including Daraa, in 2018, which concluded with the former regime's forces regaining control of the city.
