REPORT: Is the disfigured body that of Ahmad al-Assir?

The fate and the whereabouts of Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir remain a mystery, as no serious indicators lead to any accurate conclusion. Was he killed during the clashes, or is he still hiding?

While the security apparatuses do not have any information in this regard, one security source estimates that he might have fled to Ain al-Helwe refugee camp.

However, other suggestions say that al-Assir may have been killed in the battles of Sidon and his body was found sustaining heavy burns.

This report will examine the reactions of the Palestinian and Islamic forces regarding this information, and will expose the indicators leading to assume that al-Assir is dead.
