Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour held on Wednesday a press conference in which he noted that he has demanded the construction of a modern slaughterhouse in Beirut that meets all the health and scientific standards.
He also noted that he demanded the closure of al-Akbieh, al-Byasariyeh and al-Ghazieh slaughterhouses since they do not meet the needed requirements.
Minister Abou Faour also stressed that a decision was taken to close the Aytour poultry slaughterhouse in Sidon.
Abou Faour revealed a new list of violating supermarkets and restaurants.
Health Minister Wael Abou Faour has been launching a campaign against corruption detected in
restaurants and supermarkets in regards to food safety standards, and has made public
several lists of violating restaurants and supermarkets underscoring the types of unfit foods being sold.
Following the food corruption scandal, the Health Ministry has touched on a new file, ordering the closure of many beauty centers that operate without official supervision.
Abou Faour’s campaign has also tackled the file of water quality.
The minister, who has received the support of many political forces, vowed to push ahead with his campaign, and stressed the need to protect the Lebanese citizens against any type of contamination.
