REPORT: The Archive of President Bachir Gemayel on the heel of his birth anniversary

Bachir Gemayel went from being a university political activist and a fighter to a Commander-in-Chief and a President.

On the occasion of his 65th birth anniversary on November 10, the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and the Bachir Gemayel Foundation  will launch an important initiative entitled “The Archive of President Bachir Gemayel.”

Bachir’s archive is already enshrined in the memory of his partisans and opponents alike; he is unanimously considered as a milestone among Lebanese leaders.

The agreement was the fruit of cooperation between USEK and the Bashir Gemayel Foundation. The Phoenix Center for Lebanese Studies at the Holy Spirit University will be in charge of gathering information about the late president from the beginning of his political career in the 1960s until his assassination.

In the next few days, the Foundation will provide the Phoenix Center with Bachir’s memoirs, documents, photos and movies. The center launched the following website: www.archivesbachirgemayel.com for all those who want to provide it with any of Bachir’s possessions.
