Central Bank adopts decision to pay 400 USD to depositors-[REPORT]

The Central Council, headed by the governor of the Central Bank in Lebanon Riad Salameh, held an extraordinary session on Friday and adopted, unanimously, a decision that obliges banks to pay 400 USD (fresh) to depositors, as well as their equivalent in Lebanese pounds to the accounts that were in place in October 2019 and as they became in March 2021.

A circular will be issued to specify the details of the decision.

Depositors will be able to withdraw from their accounts a maximum amount of 9600 USD for one year only.
