Lebanon Tourism Ministry has prepared an extensive 2023 plan
The year 2022 turned its last page, and the 2023 calendar was opened, and with it, a tourism plan will be launched in Lebanon.
700,000 Lebanese expatriates have arrived in the country during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and the "best is yet to come," as the Caretaker Minister of Tourism Walid Nassar told LBCI, who talked about a good tourism year.
So, what are the details of the 2023 tourist plan, and when will we see the result?
First, Lebanon is counting on the ski season. A season that has yet to start due to weather conditions, but the chance of a good launch remains viable until March.
And while awaiting the arrival of snowfall, coordination committees are active in ski areas, resorts, and resorts, consisting of representatives of the resorts, the Red Cross, the Ministry of Public Works, the security forces, and municipalities, to ensure the success of the season.
Second, the development of the guest house sector by the spring season, an industry that proved to be a thriving sector in attracting expatriates in 2022.
Therefore, work is underway to support the newly established Guest Houses Syndicate, to give the owners of these houses incentives to increase their number from 150 to 200 and raise their classification.
Work is also underway to create a sovereign fund that stimulates constructive competition between them.
Third, the application of tourism administrative decentralization through 31 offices spread over various Lebanese regions. By the middle of the year, it is expected that they will be operational and linked to a unified platform in the Ministry of Tourism.
Fourth is the development of religious tourism for Lebanon to become a leading destination.
Fifth, Lebanon will be a major center for wine tourism in the Mediterranean basin since the Ministry of Tourism will launch a 1,200 meters-long wine tasting table in March in the hope of recording the achievement in the Guinness Book of World Records.
This table will offer products from 65 wineries from Lebanon, Spain, France, Greece, Cyprus, and others.
This year, a spring tourism campaign will also be launched between March and April, when Lebanon expects expatriates to visit for Eid Al-Fitr and Easter.
Another campaign targeting the summer season will also be launched later.
