REPORT: Lebanon to witness severe population decline by 2040

An official national census has not been conducted in Lebanon since the year 1932 whereby the number of Lebanese citizens was 875,252.

However, since that year, Lebanon has been witnessing various demographic changes that will eventually lead to a severe decline in the population by the year 2040.

This report will shed light on a study conducted by the Lebanese Information Center showing Lebanon’s current demographic reality, the history of emigration from the country, as well as past and recent fertility rates.
