UN receives only 12% of requested aid for Sudan

The United Nations warned on Friday that it has only received 12 percent of the $2.7 billion it requested to assist Sudan, which is experiencing a humanitarian crisis due to civil strife.

Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), told reporters, "This is not just a funding shortfall, but a catastrophic funding shortfall."
