Germany's inflation slows more than expected to 2.2% in June

Germany's inflation rate slowed more than expected in June, official data showed Monday, resuming its downward path after edging up in May.

Consumer prices in Europe's biggest economy rose by 2.2 percent from a year ago, preliminary data from federal statistics agency Destatis showed, down from 2.4 percent in May.

Analysts surveyed by FactSet had expected the figure to stay unchanged in June.
