Russian prosecutor seeks 18-year term for US journalist Gershkovich

A Russian prosecutor on Friday asked a judge to sentence US reporter Evan Gershkovich to 18 years in prison as he stands trial for "espionage".

"The prosecution asked for 18 years in a strict regime penal colony," a court spokeswoman told journalists in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg where the trial is taking place behind closed doors.
