Venezuela opposition 'prepared to defend' vote, says top challenger

Venezuela's opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia said Sunday he was "prepared to defend" Sunday's presidential vote amid rising tensions in his electoral challenge to incumbent Nicolas Maduro.

"We are prepared to defend until the last vote," Gonzalez Urrutia said after voting in Caracas. "We trust our armed forces to respect the decision of our people."
