Key opposition figure arrested in Venezuela

A leading figure within Venezuela's opposition coalition was arrested Tuesday morning, his party said, denouncing an "escalation of repression" amid protests against the reelection of President Nicolas Maduro.

"Just a few minutes ago our national political coordinator, Freddy Superlano, was kidnapped," The Voluntad Popular party wrote on X, alongside a video of him being taken away by officials dressed in black.
