Russia claims another village in east Ukraine, near Pokrovsk

Russia said Monday its forces had captured the Ukrainian village of Memryk, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the Kyiv-held logistics hub of Pokrovsk in the eastern Donetsk region.

"Units of the Centre grouping of troops liberated the settlement of Memryk," the defense ministry said. Russia has been pushing towards the city of Pokrovsk for weeks as it seeks to cut off Ukraine's supply routes.
