Hospitalized Pope Francis is in stable condition, the Vatican says

Pope Francis is in stable condition in a hospital, where the 88-year-old has been treated for almost a month with pneumonia in both lungs, the Vatican said Wednesday.

"The clinical conditions of the Holy Father have remained stationary (stable), within the complexity of the general picture," it said in a medical bulletin, adding that a chest X-ray performed on Tuesday confirmed the improvements recorded in previous days.
