S. Africa says Washington gave its envoy 72 hours to leave US: AFP

South Africa said on Saturday that its U.S. ambassador had been given 72 hours to leave the country following his expulsion by Washington.

Ebrahim Rasool "was informed by the State Department yesterday that he had 72 hours to leave," the South African foreign ministry told AFP.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Friday that Rasool was "no longer welcome" in the United States, writing on X that he was a "race-baiting politician who hates America and hates @POTUS," Rubio posted on X, referring to Trump by his White House X account handle.
