Taiwan says 27 Chinese aircraft, 21 warships and 10 coast guard vessels around island

Taipei's defense ministry said Wednesday dozens of Chinese aircraft, warships, and coast guard vessels had surrounded the self-ruled island, as Beijing held military drills targeting Taiwan for the second consecutive day.

A defense official told reporters that the ministry detected 27 Chinese aircraft, 21 warships, and 10 coast guard boats between 6:08 am (2208 GMT on Tuesday) and 1:30 pm.
