Sniping, bombs injure 6 in Tripoli's Bab al-Tebbaneh and Jabal Mohsen neighborhoods

Two bombs exploded on Thursday in the northern city of Tripoli, injuring Mirna Jamal al-Deblaneh and her mother in the Bab al-Tebbaneh neighborhood as well as Ali and Sleiman Bader Hassan in the Jabal Mohsen neighborhood.

The injured were transferred to the Islamic Hospital to receive medical treatment.

As well, Ali Hassan, an Alawite, was injured in a bomb and was consequently transferred to a hospital in the Zgharta region to receive treatment.

This as sniping activity was reported in the city's Syria Street, killing citizen Fatima al-Bartel, while the Lebanese Armed Forces responded to the sources of fire.

Disputes from neighboring Syria's civil war frequently inflame sectarian grievances in Tripoli.

These clashes pit gunmen from both pro-Syrian regime supporters in the predominantly Alawite neighborhood of Jabal Mohsen and pro-revolution fighters in the Sunni Bab al-Tabbaneh.

Violence between the two areas stretches back to decades, but the recent round of fighting came after a powerful explosion rocked southern Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, killing and injuring several people.
