REPORT: Judge leaves Marcel Ghanem on residency document
A hearing session was held on Friday for LBCI’s TV talk show host Marcel Ghanem and LBCI’s news director Jean Feghali before the first investigating judge in Mount Lebanon.

The session was held with politicians, journalists and citizens gathering outside the Justice Palace in Baabda in a show of support to Ghanem.

Following the session, MP Boutros Harb, Ghanem’s attorney, said that the judge decided to leave Ghanem on residency document.

He also added that an indictment in the case will be issued in the next few hours or days.

“We will still consider the judiciary independent and we respect the law, what happened today in the session is good,” Harb added.

For his part, Marcel Ghanem said that the hearing session "was not easy," adding that the judge was objective.

Last November, Ghanem was charged with contempt of court and obstruction of justice for criticizing Lebanon 's judiciary and Justice Minister Salim Jreissati during an episode of his talk show.

Two Saudi guests hosted during the show criticized top Lebanese officials, including President Michel Aoun and Speaker Nabih Berri.
