Fenianos says he is not evading his responsibilities, but providing assistance to all affected regions

Caretaker Public works Minister Youssef Fenianos stressed Monday that he understands the suffering of the Lebanese people, noting that he has been closely following up on the issue of the blocked roads due to floods.

“There is a difficulty in releasing the credits due to the financial crisis in the country,” he said, adding that he is not avoiding his duties and responsibilities but he had been providing support and assistance to all affected regions.

In the same context, he said that while some problems are not within the scope of the Public Works Ministry’s responsibility, such as Ouzai, the ministry’s teams have been rushing everywhere to help with pumping out water from the roads.

“The large cities, including Beirut, Tripoli and Sidon, are not within the scope of the ministry’s operations,” the minister noted, stressing that he contacted the public prosecution and placed the events that occurred in Khaldeh and al-Nehmeh last week at its disposal so that every party bears its responsibility.

Fenianos pointed out that Lebanon’s infrastructure dates back 50 years and are not suitable to absorb the heavy rain fall.
