Judge Ibrahim opens investigation into LU, airport tunnel floods

Financial General Prosecutor Judge Ali Ibrahim launched on Friday an investigation into the Lebanese University floods and the airport tunnel ducts' cleaning, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Judge Ibrahim ordered the Ministries of Finance and Public Works to carry out the investigations, the agency added.

On Thursday, the eastern side of the tunnel on the airport- Beirut highway was closed after the Civil Defense vehicle broke down in the tunnel while working on removing water.

Later on, members of the Internal Security Forces managed to reopen the airport road's tunnel after removing the Civil Defense vehicle.

The ISF chief spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mousallem stressed that the ISF were deployed across the main streets in order to avoid further traffic jam.

Similarly, Law and Political Science Faculty at the Lebanese University campus was also submerged with heavy rain.
