Abdullah Azzam Brigades vow to continue attacks against Hezbollah strongholds
The Abdullah Azzam Brigades religious guide Sheikh Sirajeddin Zreikat said on Tuesday via his Twitter account that Hezbollah's blatant disregard to the Sunnis in Lebanon and Syria, has prompted a retaliation.

"Hezbollah's battle is no longer limited against us, but has become a battle against the Sunnite sect both in Lebanon and Syria," he added.

Sheikh Zreikat noted that the latest suicide bombings in Lebanon are clear evidence that Hezbollah's battle is not against the Takfiri groups as it claims, but against Sunnis "who will defend themselves."

Sheikh Zreikat concluded by vowing to continue attacking the Dahiyeh region until peace and security return to the Lebanese and Syrian people.

The Abdullah Azzam brigades, a Lebanon-based al Qaeda affiliate, have claimed several terrorist attacks that mainly targeted Lebanon’s powerful Shi’ite group Hezbollah.

Recently, the brigades also threatened more attacks in Lebanon if "Iran fails to pull out its forces from Syria and if their prisoners are not released from Lebanese jails."

Hezbollah is a powerful Shi'ite Muslim group in Lebanon that is funded by Iran. The group has sent hundreds of fighters to neighboring Syria, giving a boost to its ally President Bashar al-Assad against mainly Sunni rebels seeking to topple him.

The Abdullah Azzam Brigades have strong links to Lebanon's Palestinian refugee camps as well as connections with the Gulf. One of its senior military leaders, Majid bin Muhammad al-Majid, was a Saudi national. He was arrested by Lebanese authorities last December, who announced his death days later while still in custody, citing kidney failure as the reason.
