[PHOTOS] Notorious fugitive Osama Mansour killed in Tripoli shootout

Terrorist fugitive Osama Mansour was killed along with another man in a shootout with an Internal Security Forces patrol in the northern city of Tripoli late on Thursday, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The operation also left two ISF members injured and sources said Islamist militant Mansour was wearing an explosives belt shortly before being killed.

Another fugitive identified as Khaled Hoblos was detained with his escort, security sources told LBCI on Thursday.

Osama Mansour, who had close ties with Lebanon's top Islamist fugitive Shadi Mawlawi, was wanted over plotting numerous attacks against the Lebanese Armed Forces in Tripoli.

He also took part in clashes between the city’s rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

Osama Mansour and Shadi Mawlawi are believed to have links with Al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front.
