Caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil declared Tuesday that the “Strong Lebanon” bloc sent a letter to Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh regarding the transfer of funds and the discretion it represents against the citizens, adding that they also called on him to reveal the real numbers and voiced willingness to cooperate.
“Citizens are preventing from transferring small amounts of funds, while others transfer hundreds of thousands abroad,” he stated.
Following the Strong Lebanon bloc meeting, Bassil said that they have been demanding a financial and economic rescue plan, noting that they presented a proposal to the concerned parties in this regard.
“Calling for completing caretaker duties does not mean keeping the resigned cabinet afloat and does not delay the formation of the new one,” he explained.
Concerning the government, Bassil stressed the need for a cabinet that obtains the confidence of the people, stressing that the country does not have the luxury for further delay.
The minister pointed out that the current crises cannot be resolve with the same economic and financial policies adopted 30 years ago, denying reports stating that his bloc has been demanding a shares or an obstructive third in the upcoming government.
