Leaders condemn attack on LAF in Hermel

The Lebanese Armed Forces Directorate mourned on Monday the three military soldiers who were killed yesterday afternoon in the Hermel district during a raid.

They were identified as First Sergeant Ali Ismail (37), First Sergeant Ahmed Haidar Ahmed (33), and Soldier Hasan Ezzeddine (28).

This as Lebanese leaders condemned the attack on the Lebanese army with Foreign Affairs Minister Nassif Hitti, extending his condolences to the military institution and the families of the fallen soldiers.

He also called for "bringing all the perpetrators to justice, as well as imposing the severest penalties against them."

For his part, MP Antoine Habchi condemned the attack on the Lebanese army, hailing the sacrifices of the army.

Meanwhile, the Progressive Socialist Party issued a statement in which it condemned the attack and praised the role of the military institution “in maintaining civil peace and order and defending Lebanon, mainly at this difficult time.”

In turn, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdel-Latif Derian said that the “crime affected all the Lebanese people who believe in their military institutions and its role in maintaining security and order in the country."

For his part, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian condemned the attack, calling for intensifying the investigations and imposing the most severe penalties on perpetrators to serve as an example to others. "
