Representative of Fuel Distributors in Lebanon Abou Chakra says no fuel crisis
Representative of Fuel Distributors in Lebanon Fadi Abou Chakra confirmed on Sunday that “there is no fuel crisis”, after circulating news that a ship carrying 42,000 tons of diesel was subjected to a marine mishap off the coast of Amchit due to strong winds, which will delay its emptying process, resulting in a diesel shortage on the markets.
Abu Chakra’s comments were made during an interview with the National News Agency, whereby he noted that “there is no fuel crisis due to this incident,” saying that he made a call with head of the Petroleum Importing Companies Maroun Chammas who confirmed that the ship, which had a normal malfunction due to weather conditions, will be transferred to Beirut.
He then added that it will be unloaded within 48 hours, and there is a second ship loaded with diesel coming to Lebanon.
