MP Charbel Massad underlined on Thursday during an interview with “To the Presidency of the Republic” on LBCI the need to elect a president and to pay attention to more important matters, hoping that the deputies would carry out their duties by electing a President of the Republic.
As for MP Sajih Attieh, he revealed that “there is a possibility that they will give one or two votes to Michel Moawad, based on his request.”
He also added that “the Lebanese Army Commander has not yet announced his candidacy, and if agreement is reached on his name, they will be the first to vote for him.”
While MP Simon Abi Ramia confirmed that they will cast a blank ballot today, indicating that they cannot move towards a decision that reverses our convictions, despite the respect they have towards MP Frangieh and Marada Movement.”
Moreover, MP Salim al-Sayegh noted that the other party had no intention of electing a president of the republic, saying that “this will not change their position, as they will continue the political pressure required to elect a president.”
He then mentioned that “the main goal is to elect a president.”
As for MP Fadi Karam, he pointed out that this presidential electoral battle is a major political battle related to the composition of the state and the understandings that can occur based on the identity of this new state.
Additionally, MP Yassin Yassin confirmed that “he will vote for Issam Khalifa in today's session.”
He also said that they have communicated with everyone, launched their initiative, and discussed 3 names, but the lack of seriousness of the parties that have large blocs led us to this situation.
However, MP Kassem Hachem considered that MP Michel Moawad is not a consensual candidate, saying that “these are our convictions.”
Thus, Representative Mohammad al-Khawaja affirmed that “if the Free Patriotic Movement adopts Bassil's candidacy for the presidency, they will not vote for him.”
He went on to say that “the President of the Republic should represent all the Lebanese.”
As for MP Ibrahim al-Moussawi, he revealed that there is no dialogue with the Lebanese Forces regarding the presidential issue
