Former MP Souaid to LBCI: Hezbollah is leading Lebanon and itself into an adventure that could result in its demise

Former MP Dr. Fares Souaid commented on Iran's attempts to offer "gifts" to the Democrats in the United States to improve negotiations, suggesting that "Iranian-American negotiations seem to be progressing, with Iran seeking greater guarantees that would positively affect its regional status and lead to lifting sanctions."

He added, "Hezbollah should humble itself and acknowledge that it is merely a tool for carrying out Iranian orders."

On LBCI's "Nharkom Said" TV show, Souaid noted that if the ceasefire in Gaza extends to Lebanon, it could pave the way for the election of a new president within hours, as "what Nasrallah can do today, he may not be able to do later."

Addressing the tunnels, Souaid recalled the existing tunnels previously used for the construction of the Janna Dam, saying, "Since the dam project has stalled, it would be better to close these tunnels to prevent their use for illegal purposes. I have personally entered one of the tunnels, and I can confirm that a large truck could easily pass through it."

Souaid emphasized that Hezbollah is leading Lebanon and itself into an adventure that could result in its demise, stating that "Iran has no problem sacrificing Hezbollah or Hamas to save itself."

Regarding the opposition's movements, Souaid argued that the election of the president and other issues are resolved through international, regional, and local agreements, not through manliness, saying, "The opposition in Lebanon is out of touch with the major issues and fails to draw attention to the real problems facing the country."

"The main concern for key international players today is Hezbollah. We need to change our rhetoric to make the world pay attention to us. It is not about the number of MPs; I encourage the opposition to move in the right direction, focusing on a political project that demands attention," he added.
