WSJ: Recent pager explosions among Hezbollah members linked to new shipment

After recent pager explosions across various areas of Lebanon targeting Hezbollah members, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday that the affected pagers were from a recent shipment received by the group. The report cited people familiar with the matter.

The Wall Street Journal also quoted a Hezbollah official who said that "hundreds of fighters had such devices" and speculated that malware may have caused the devices to overheat and explode.

The official added that some people noticed the pagers heating up and disposed of them before they burst.
