Lebanese Foreign Ministry welcomes G7 statement on Lebanon and thanks Italy for its role

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants expressed its welcome for the section on Lebanon in the statement issued by the G7 ministerial meeting, held on October 22, 2024, in Pescara, Italy.

The ministry particularly appreciated the call for an immediate cessation of hostilities, the emphasis on diplomatic solutions, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, support for UNIFIL’s role without interference in its operations, the protection of civilians, and the provision of humanitarian aid.

In its statement, the ministry extended sincere thanks to Italy’s group's presidency, represented by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, for inviting his Lebanese counterpart to present Lebanon’s position during the meeting.

The invitation provided an opportunity to highlight the aggressions faced by Lebanon and its people, which threaten their lives and future, and to explore ways to achieve a sustainable solution that ensures security and stability along Lebanon’s southern border.
