PM Mikati meets EU and Francophone leaders to bolster support for Lebanon

Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Josep Borrell, the European Union’s high representative, in Paris just ahead of the "International Conference in Support of Lebanon’s People and Sovereignty."

The meeting included Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, during which they discussed Lebanon's internal situation and explored ways to enhance cooperation between Lebanon and the EU. Borrell affirmed the EU's commitment to supporting Lebanon across various sectors.

Mikati also visited the headquarters of the International Organization of the Francophonie, where he met with Secretary-General Louise Mushikiwabo, accompanied by Lebanon's ambassador to UNESCO, Mustafa Adib.

They addressed the current security situation in Lebanon and the urgent need to preserve the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Mushikiwabo reaffirmed the solidarity of the Francophone community with Lebanon and its people. She expressed the organization’s readiness to assist Lebanon in ensuring the proper functioning of its political institutions, maintaining a ceasefire, and fully implementing UN Resolution 1701.
