Saudi and US Foreign Ministers discuss Lebanon's security and humanitarian crisis, Gaza ceasefire efforts

According to the U.S. Department of State, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

During the conversation, the Secretary emphasized the "need for full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 to allow for the return of civilians on both sides of the Israel-Lebanon border to their homes."

Both officials acknowledged "ongoing efforts to fund and support the Lebanese Armed Forces" and highlighted the "importance of international support for UNIFIL."

They also addressed the "urgent humanitarian situation in Lebanon and response efforts," which included the recent U.S. announcement of nearly $157 million in assistance.

Additionally, Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Al Saud continued their discussions on "efforts to reach a durable ceasefire in Gaza to release all hostages, enable a surge of humanitarian assistance, and alleviate the suffering of civilians."

Blinken expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister for the "crucial Saudi role on these and other regional and global challenges."
