Jordan's King and UAE President call for "intensified efforts to stop the war on Gaza and Lebanon

Jordan's King Abdullah II and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan called for "intensified Arab and international efforts to stop the war on Gaza and Lebanon" at the conclusion of their talks in Amman on Sunday, according to a statement from the Royal Court.

The statement, which was shared with Agence France-Presse, noted that the two leaders emphasized during their meeting at Basman Palace in Amman "the need for intensified Arab and international efforts to halt the war on Gaza and Lebanon, protect civilians, and de-escalate tensions in the region."

They reaffirmed "the two countries' firm position on Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and their solidarity with the Lebanese people."

The leaders also reiterated "their full support for the Palestinian people in obtaining their legitimate rights and working towards a political horizon for achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the two-state solution."

The statement mentioned that the talks "focused on ways to enhance the humanitarian response to the disaster facing the people of Gaza."

King Abdullah warned of "the consequences of continued attacks by extremist settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem."

According to the statement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed praised "Jordan's historic role in supporting the Palestinian people at all levels, and appreciated the kingdom's support for the humanitarian response in Gaza."
