Russia announces targeting of two militant sites in Syria

The Russian news agency reported Sunday that Russian air forces carried out strikes on two militant sites in Syria, near the outskirts of the al-Tanf area, which hosts a U.S. military base.

The agency cited Oleg Ignasyuk, deputy head of the Russian Reconciliation Center for Warring Parties in Syria, who said the militants had recently left the al-Tanf area, located near the Jordanian border.

In a press briefing, he added, "The Russian air force struck two specific sites of militants who had left the al-Tanf area."
