REPORT: Al-Manar TV announces withdrawal from the Arab States Broadcasting Union
Minister of Information Ramzi Jreij said on Tuesday that the National Media Council will discuss ways to face the latest developments in the case of al-Manar TV.

Jreij also noted that the media freedom in Lebanon is practiced under the ceiling of the law, stressing necessity to preserve the freedom of expression.

Later during the day, the Lebanese Media Group (including al-Manar TV and al-Nour Radio station) announced in a statement that it is withdrawing from the Arab States Broadcasting Union.

Satellite communications operator Arabsat has stopped broadcasting Lebanon’s al-Manar television channel via the Arabsat satellites one month ago.

This measure was taken seven months after al-Manar broadcasted a live talk show in which the guest criticized Saudi Arabia and King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
