PROFILE: Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan

Wissan al-Hassan was born in the year 1965 in Btouratij, al-Koura.              

He was the officer of the late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri who had tasked his protocol mission. Hassan survived the assassination of the late PM Hariri on the 14th of February 2005, however did not do so today.          

In 2006, he was appointed as the head of the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces. He worked on the development of the Division, which revealed many crimes, including the perpetrators of the of Ain Alaq blast, and the arrest of various networks dealing with the Israeli enemy. 
              

He was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General with Seniority in 2012. Wissam al-Hassan was in charge of a top intelligence unit, and was the brain behind uncovering a recent bomb plot that led to the arrest of a pro-Syrian Lebanese politician former minister Michel Samaha.   
       

Wissam al-Hassan and the late Major Wissam Eid formed a bilateral prominent role in the investigation of the assassination of Former PM Rafic Hariri. He showed utmost cooperation with the international investigation and the Special Tribunal of Lebanon.    
             

Wissam al-Hassan is married to Anna al-Hassan and has two sons.                   

His family has been recently living in France.             

Hassan had reportedly been moving around in a very confidential manner.
