REPORT: Lebanese farmers, 2 years in waiting for compensations

Two years have passed since grape farmers in the Bekaa lost their crops in the wake of an environmental disaster which struck the valley in the form of heavy torrential drenching rains that flooded crops prior to harvest. According to the proposal of Agriculture Minister Hussain El Hajj Hassan and in cooperation with the High Relief Commission only 40% of the compensations have been paid so far.

These compensations did not satisfy some farmers who consider that this disaster further aggravated in the 2 year span, claiming 70% of their vineyards.

These compensations varied from person to another according to the proportion of the damage, according to reports.
