AI development cannot be left to market whim, UN experts say

The development of artificial intelligence should not be guided by market forces alone, UN experts warned on Thursday, calling for the creation of tools for global cooperation.

"The development, deployment, and use of such a technology cannot be left to the whims of markets alone. National governments and regional organizations will be crucial, but the very nature of the technology itself -- transboundary in structure and application – necessitates a global approach," the report said.
