EU threatens to slap higher tariffs on Chinese electric cars

The European Union warned Wednesday it would hit Chinese electric cars with higher import taxes from next month after an anti-subsidy probe unless the issue can be resolved through dialogue.

The European Commission said it provisionally concluded there was "unfair subsidization", adding: "Should discussions with Chinese authorities not lead to an effective solution, these provisional countervailing duties would be introduced from 4 July."
