Australia to lead joint task force in Red Sea for six months starting October

On Friday, the Australian Ministry of Defense announced that Australia will take command of a joint naval task force in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden starting in October.

The Combined Maritime Forces' Task Force 153 was established in April 2022 to focus on regional maritime security.

It was strengthened in December to address Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.
