Macron says was 'completely unaware' of Telegram chief Durov's France visit

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that he did not know that Telegram chief Pavel Durov, who was detained in Paris over the weekend, would be coming to France.

Speaking to reporters on a visit to Serbia, Macron denied having issued "any invitation whatsoever" to Durov, stressing that he was unaware of the Franco-Russian billionaire's visit to France.

According to a source close to the investigation, Durov had emphasized his links to the French head of state during questioning.
